Eleven months ago when we first had our "what if" and "why not" moments of a round the world trip, it seemed distant, with an overwhelming number of possibilities. We would spend many evenings and weekends researching options, winnowing destinations, making bookings, and sorting out our kit down to the ounce. Now with just ten days to go, we have only a handful of things to tie off. So we take snowy walks to try and distract our minds from drifting to distant mountains, deserts or ocean waters. It's like being back in school in early June waiting for summer vacation to start.
